BitGive To Take a Lead at the Latin American Bitcoin Conference
BitGive Continues to Expand Efforts Internationally
This weekend, BitGive Founder and Executive Director, Connie Gallippi, heads to Mexico City for the third annual Latin American Bitcoin Conference (#laBITconf). Connie will share a review of BitGive’s role in leveraging Bitcoin for social good, including successful campaigns as well as plans for 2016. To those attending the conference, please be sure to listen in on Connie’s presentation on Saturday, December 5 at 18:30 and tweet to @BitGiveOrg and #laBITconf. As we seek to empower individuals globally to utilize Bitcoin for good and also encourage international nonprofits to embrace Bitcoin, we have had the privilege of participating in the Latin American Bitcoin Conference now for three years.
Not attending LaBITConf but want to play a role?
Even if you are not attending the conference, you certainly can still play an important role in the auction of a unique Bitcoin Comic book a part of the Multi-Signature Project.
This year, thanks to Rocelo Lopes at CoinBR, and Rodolfo Andragnes and the laBITconf team, there will be auction of a unique Bitcoin Comic book with signatures of over 90 Bitcoin pioneers. Thank you to Juan Llanos for traveling the world and working hard to get all the big names in Bitcoin to sign this unique piece! Again, this is not a regular comic book, but a piece of history signed by changemakers in the Bitcoin space. All proceeds from the auction will go towards BitGive’s Donation Transparency Project. You can learn more about the comic book, who has signed it, and place a bid on twitter by using #Bid4BitcoinComic and tagging @bitcoincomic and @labitconf. At time of this Blog publishing, the bid is up to 3 BTC – check the hashtag for the latest bid! You can learn more about this opportunity to support the first Donation Transparency Platform for donors and nonprofits using blockchain technology on the Coin Cafe Blog.
Supporting the Local Community
An additional auction will take place for a Cryptomatic Bitcoin Watch with all proceeds going to a local Mexican charity, Fundación Parlas I.A.P., which now accepts donations in Bitcoin. Fundación Parlas I.A.P. has been operating as a shelter for 45 years and started in recent years assisting and feeding homeless and abandoned individuals who have mental disabilities.
Thank you to Rocelo Lopes of CoinBR for donating this truly exquisite handmade watch for Bitcoin fans. We are also grateful for our partners BitPay and Bitso for helping this local charity to accept bitcoin and for converting the donations to Mexican pesos, enabling this important organization to begin utilizing Bitcoin. Thank you to Jose Rodriguez from Bitso for helping us identify and vet a quality local charity and opening the door to global donations through Bitcoin. It truly takes a village to enable the use and leverage of Bitcoin globally.
We look forward to seeing you this weekend at the Latin American Bitcoin Conference or having you follow along online @BitGiveOrg!
